This qualification is designed for people with:

Little to no experience, wishing to enter the security workforce

What does the course cover?
To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully demonstrate competency in fourteen (14) core units. There are no elective units. This course is delivered in six (6) clusters, covering all the required units of competency including:

CPPSEC2103 Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security

Course Outcome and Security Licensing
You will be issued an official CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations upon successful completion of this qualification. This qualification meets the training requirements to apply for a security licence in Victoria to perform security activities including unarmed guard, crowd control, and control room operator.
In addition to the above, to be eligible to apply for a private security licence or registration in Victoria, you must undertake a National Police Check (including fingerprints) and be deemed a fit and proper person. Full eligibility details can be found at:

Where will the course be held?
Our courses are generally held at our purpose-built training facility on St Kilda Road, Melbourne. However, we also deliver this course at client and Workforce Australia provider sites.

What are the Entry Requirements?
Nexar Training Academy requires learners to:

Provide photo identification prior to enrolment being accepted

Be over the age of 18

Have the required level of Language, Learning and Numeracy (LLN) skills as required by the course (ACSF Level 2). If you require further information, please contact us.
To be eligible to apply for a security licence, you must not pose a risk to public safety. Please note this process may include fingerprinting and a criminal history check. Refer to our section on Security Licensing for further information.

Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for students looking to enrol in this course.

How will the course be delivered?
This course is delivered over 18 days in the classroom via face-to-face delivery.
All courses consist of practical workshops and assessments delivered by our experienced security trainers and assessors. You will learn and practise essential skills under supervision in defensive tactics, crowd control, and more.

How will assessment be conducted?
Assessment will be conducted through:

Written questions and projects to demonstrate knowledge

Practical simulations of workplace activities to demonstrate workplace skills and knowledge
To streamline assessments, we have developed online quizzes so learners do not need to handwrite answers. Learners are required to bring a laptop, tablet or iPad to the course. If you do not have access to suitable equipment, please contact us to arrange alternatives.

Attendance
Learners must complete all self-paced modules and attend all face-to-face workshops (8.30am–4.30pm). Any missed training workshops will require re-attendance in a later course and may affect your progress in the current course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)
